I can’t wait for teens across the US to be able to pick up the book of my heart at their local library!
I’m absolutely thrilled to share that my catacombs thriller, Under the Surface, is a Junior Library Guild Selection! AHHHHHHHHHH!
Libraries were a huge part of my childhood, so much so that when I got my driver’s license at sixteen, the very first place I drove myself was to my local library. Because what better place to go?? Trick question! There is none!
So to get this kind of support from the JLG is incredible. I’m humbled and honored and so, so grateful. And I can’t wait for teens across the US to be able to pick up the book of my heart at their local library.
What is a Junior Library Guild selection?
The Junior Library Guild offers a monthly curated book box as a subscription service for librarians, which make stocking their shelves with the latest releases a bit easier. To quote JLG, “95% of our hand-picked selections earn starred reviews, honors, and awards, so you can trust the books you receive are the best of the best.”
I hope their prophetic powers apply to my book as well because gosh golly gee wiz that sounds nice.

What does being an JLG pick mean for authors?
I’ve never had any of my books picked for this before so this is all news to me. Apparently when JLG selects a title, they order a certain number of copies — it doesn’t seem to be a standard amount across all their picks — which they buy from your publisher at a steep discount. The total sale amount then gets applied toward the author’s advance, which is great, and knowing so many copies will be in libraries across the US is fantastic. The more people who read, the more copies libraries will likely order.
Plus, nothing sells books like word-of-mouth, so the buzz you get from being a JLG selection can help boost regular sales, too.
What a freaking honor
It’s so cool to be able to announce this. My first three books didn’t get any of these kinds of honors, and I never thought it would happen for me. So I’m simply chuffed. CHUFFED I TELL YOU. 🥹
